Supreme Court rejects appeal from Indiana school district over transgender bathroom policy
The judges gave no comment in rejecting the appeal.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected an appeal from an Indiana school district that had sought a determination on whether a public school could require that students use a bathroom in line with their sex.
The judges gave no comment in rejecting the appeal, according to the Associated Press.
The Metropolitan School District of Martinsville, Ind., appealed in the wake of a 2022 loss at the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals that had permitted the middle school student in question to use a bathroom in line with their gender identity, USA Today reported. The Supreme Court's refusal to take the case left the 7th Circuit decision in place.
The student is now in high school and able to use a bathroom in line with their gender identity.
