National Guardsmen stationed at the Capitol allegedly got sick after being served undercooked meat and food with metal  shavings, according to news reports.

An anonymous Michigan National Guard officer told an ABC affiliate Monday that nearly 75 meals were thrown out due to metal shavings or raw beef issues.

The source said that the food made over a dozen soldiers sick, causing some to go to the hospital,

"The firsthand accounts and pictures of undercooked food being served clearly shows that what is being given to Michigan's service members is unacceptable," the state's National Guard said in a release.

"Now after the raw meat yesterday for dinner, they have told us not to eat the meals for the next two days and are giving us MRE’s instead. Soldiers are now paying for all their meals for the next two days in order to get real food,” the source also said.

Hundreds of National Guard  troops were sent to the Capitol for the Jan. 6 riot and are expected to remain there until the next State of Union address, whose date as yet to be determined.

Several politicians have gotten involved in figuring what happened to the food including, Michigan Sen. Gary Peters as well as Michigan Rep. Brenda Lawrence.
