Google and Boeing donate $1 million each to Trump inaugural fund as donations set record
Amazon, Boeing, Chevron, Google, Meta, and Uber are among the major companies to announce contributions for the inaugural fund so far.
Google and Boeing confirmed on Thursday that they each donated $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural fund, as donations for the event reached a record breaking $170 million.
Trump previously set the record in his first inauguration in 2017, when he raised $107 million for the ceremony and surrounding events. President Joe Biden brought in $62 million, according to the Associated Press.
Chevron also confirmed on Thursday that it has donated to the inaugural fund, but did not disclose how much it had spent. Meta, Amazon, and Uber have also donated to the fund, The Hill reported.
Google, which has donated to other inaugural funds in the past, said it will help users watch the inauguration by promoting links on its homepage and hosting a live stream on YouTube.
Boeing, which has donated to the past three presidential inaugurations, also confirmed to the outlet that it made the donation.
“We are pleased to continue Boeing’s bipartisan tradition of supporting U.S. Presidential Inaugural Committees,” a Boeing spokesperson said in a statement emailed Thursday to The Hill.
The inauguration, which occurs at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., will take place on Jan. 20. Necessary funds will be used to cover the costs associated with the ceremony and other events related to the inauguration, while the rest is expected to contribute to a future Trump presidential library, per AP.
