Tulsa police officers rescue, adopt 'Christmas puppies'

Tulsa, Oklahoma police officers rescued abandoned puppies, leading to several officers adding furry family members to their homes on Christmas. 

"Last night someone left 5 puppies in a zipped duffel bag on the counter at" a QuikTrip in Tulsa, the department posted Sunday on Facebook.

The officers were "overwhelmed with Christmas feelings," and four of them immediately decided to each adopt a puppy. The fifth puppy was adopted by the QuikTrip employee.

"Big thanks to the cute pups, awesome officers and [QuikTrip] employee," the department wrote.

Law enforcement officials included a request for people to "please adopt don't shop" when looking for a four-legged friend. The department added, "There are lots of rescues and shelters that are over capacity for abandoned pets."

The department posted photos of the officers and their "abandoned Christmas puppies" on Facebook. It is unclear what breed and age the puppies are.
