An employee of the Israeli embassy in Beijing, sustained stab wounds on Friday during an altercation with a lone assailant.

The attack took place on a planned "Day of Rage" called by terrorist group Hamas to protest Israeli's bombardment of the Gaza Strip. The Israel Defense Forces have conducted strikes on the Hamas-controlled territory in retaliation for a major incursion that saw Hamas terrorists storm Israeli border towns, seize hostages, and inflict considerable civilian casualties.

Chinese authorities have arrested a 53-year-old foreign man in connection with the attack, according to the Associated Press. Video footage appears to show the knifeman stabbing the victim, 50, who repeatedly shouts "Why?!" It is unclear if the knifeman has any connection to Hamas or the ongoing conflict.

Warning: Graphic footage

The victim was moved to the hospital and is in stable condition, according to a Israeli government statement obtained by the outlet, though no further detail was provided.

The incident in Beijing was not the only stabbing attack on Friday. A teacher in France was fatally stabbed Friday morning in the city of Arras. The assailant in that incident was reportedly Chechen and shouted "Allahu Akbar" during the affair.
