U.S. announces $400 million Ukraine aid package
Included the package will be ammunition for Patriot air defense systems, artillery rounds, armored vehicles, anti-air missiles, and other equipment.
The U.S. on Friday announced a $400 million aid package for Ukraine including an array of high-tech equipment and ammunition.
President Joe Biden signed a $95 billion aid package last month, which included roughly $61 billion for Ukraine. The Friday package marks the second prepared since Biden signed the bill. The U.S. prepared a smaller aid package in late April.
"As President Biden has made clear, the United States and the international coalition we have assembled will continue to stand with Ukraine in its defense of its freedom," Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, according to CNN.
Included the package will be ammunition for Patriot air defense systems, artillery rounds, armored vehicles, anti-air missiles, and other equipment.
The announcement comes as the Russians appear to be in the first stages of an offensive in the Kharkiv region, with reports coming in that Muscovite forces had seized a handful of villages along the border. It remains unclear, however, whether the Russians intend to pursue a larger assault.
