Tennessee House moves to expel three Democrats for role in gun protesters storming Capitol
The lawmakers encouraged a crowd of more than a thousand protestors to breach the House floor during the gun control demonstration.
Tennessee House Republicans filed resolutions to expel three Democrat representatives over their role in a gun control demonstration that resulted in protestors storming the state capitol.
Republican Reps. Bud Hulsey, Gino Bulso and Andrew Farmer filed the resolutions and successfully asked the House on Monday to expedite the procedure and vote on the matter Thursday, The Associated Press reported.
The resolutions stated that Democrat Reps. Gloria Johnson, Justin Jones and Justin Pearson participated in "disorderly behavior" and "did knowingly and intentionally bring disorder and dishonor to the House of Representatives."
The three House Democrats led pro-gun control chants on the House floor while holding a sign and using a megaphone as supporters chanted in the gallery late last week. The lawmakers also encouraged a crowd of more than a thousand protestors to breach the House floor during the gun control demonstration, but the Tennessee State Troopers were able to prevent them from entering the chamber.
The protestors demanded for lawmakers to pass gun control laws after the Nashville school shooting that resulted in the deaths of six people, including three nine-year-olds.
