President Joe Biden is set Wednesday in battleground state Pennsylvania to call on his U.S. trade representative to triple tariff rate on China steel and aluminum imports.

Biden will make the announcement amid concerns Chinese subsidies are creating an oversupply of clean energy products, like solar panels and electric vehicles, that would outpace domestic demand, according to CNBC.com.

The tariff rate for China steel and aluminum imports is now at 7.5%.

Biden's U.S. trade representative is Katherine Tai.

Biden also makes the announcement as he tried to shore up labor union support for his 2024 reelection bid.

Among the stops he will make Wednesday is a visit the United Steelworkers headquarters in Pittsburgh.
