First lady Jill Biden's press secretary to resign
LaRosa began serving as her spokesperson in 2019 and his departure follows several high-level resignations
First lady Jill Biden's press secretary is leaving his post, following the departure of several other top communications officials.
Press secretary Michael LaRosa began working with Biden in 2019.
“For nearly three years, from the campaign to the White House, Michael has brought an encyclopedic knowledge of politics and media to my team as my spokesperson and adviser," Jill Biden told CNN.
LaRosa's departure also comes weeks after the first lady gave a speech in Texas in which she said the Latino community was "as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio."
Earlier this month, the White House announced that Biden communications director Kate Bedingfield would be leaving to spend time with her family.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki left her post in May and was replaced by Karine Jean-Pierre.
The first lady also said about LaRosa's departure: "On a small team, loyalty and friendship are lifelong – we will miss Michael. However, we are excited for him to begin a new chapter in his career."
LaRosa plans on becoming a managing director of the public affairs firm Hamilton Place Strategies, a source told CNN.
