Zelensky puts mineral partnership with Trump on the table: 'Let's do a deal'
"If we are talking about a deal, then let's do a deal, we are only for it," Zelenskiy said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signaled a willingness to provide some of Ukraine's critical minerals to the U.S. in exchange for a U.S. security guarantee from President Trump.
Last year, Zelensky proposed allowing its allies to invest in Ukraine critical minerals.
Trump said on Monday he wanted Ukraine to provide the U.S. with rare earths and other critical minerals if the U.S. continues to fund their war against Russia.
“We would like them to equalize," Trump said.
Rare earths are a key component of electric motors, consumer electronics and high-performance magnets.
Russia controls about 20% of Ukraine's mineral resources, according to Reuters.
"If we are talking about a deal, then let's do a deal, we are only for it," Zelenskiy said on Friday during an interview with Reuters.
