Should President Donald Trump resume combat operations in Iran, the U.S. military's new strike plans may use the "mother of all bombs" against Iranian energy infrastructure.

The GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb, or MOAB, is the largest non-nuclear bomb in the U.S. arsenal, but there are doubts over how effective it would be in bringing about an end to the conflict with Iran, CNN reported, citing unnamed sources.

Trump has ordered the military to develop additional strike objectives against Iranian targets that include energy infrastructure — strikes that would include the use of the MOAB — sources told CNN.

Strikes against nuclear sites, such as Pickaxe Mountain, explicitly incorporate the use of the MOAB. Trump has often threatened to target Pickaxe, where the U.S. and Israel believe Iran has stored components of its nuclear program.
