Republicans have a slim lead over Democrats on affordability issues, according to a new poll from the conservative, free-market group Americans for Prosperity.

When asked what party they trust more to bring down costs for Americans, 44% of respondents said Republicans, 39% said Democrats and 16% said they don't trust either party to help.

The AFP survey asked 24,089 “swing” voters in Alaska, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin. It didn’t have a margin of error, and the survey was largely taken by canvassers going door to door.

The AFP survey canvased approximately 98,320 people in Alaska, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin, the New York Post reported, and based its findings on "swing" voters' responses.

The report has no margin of error, and the findings were based on canvassers going door to door to talk to voters.
