A January 6 defendant with two guns and 400 rounds of ammunition in his van was arrested on Thursday a few blocks from former President Barack Obama’s home in Washington, D.C., according to authorities.

A federal prosecutor identified the man as 37-year-old Taylor Taranto, according to NBC News. Taranto was a U.S. Navy veteran and a former webmaster for the Republican Party in Franklin, Washington.

Taranto's van had previously been spotted near the D.C. jail, and he has attended protests in support of other Jan. 6 defendants, according to social media videos.

He is currently facing four misdemeanor counts in connection to the January 6 riots, according to the prosecutor.

He also reportedly wrote on a Telegram post: "We got these losers surrounded! See you in hell, Podesta's and Obama's!"

It wasn't clear if the Obamas were at home at the time of the arrest, according to The Associated Press

Federal Magistrate Judge G. Michael Harvey said on Friday that Taranto will be held in custody at least until a detention hearing next week.
