TSA finds explosive in checked bag at Pennsylvania airport
The explosive device was found "hidden in the lining of the baggage," an FBI agent said
A Transportation Security Administration officer stopped a checked bag with an explosive device from being loaded onto a plane at the Lehigh Valley International Airport in Pennsylvania.
The suspicious suitcase was checked in Monday by passenger Mark Muffley, 40, for a flight to Orlando, Florida, FBI special agent Eddie Garcia wrote in Muffley's arrest warrant, released Wednesday by Axios.
The explosive device was found "hidden in the lining of the baggage," the agent states. The suitcase also held "a can of butane, a lighter, a pipe with white powder residue, a wireless drill with cordless batteries, and two GFCI outlets taped together with black tape," he said.
The area of the airport with the suitcase was evacuated while the FBI and local law enforcement responded to reports about the explosive device, transportation officials said.
Muffley remains in custody and has a hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Allentown, Pennsylvania, The Associated Press reported.
