Fleetwood Mac singer Christine McVie has died

The band Fleetwood Mac has several big hits in the 1970s and '80s.

Christine McVie, a vocalist and keyboardist for the band Fleetwood Mac, died Wednesday morning, according to her family. She was 79.

"She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness," the family said in a statement obtained by TMZ.com. "She was in the company of her family. We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time, and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally."

McVie, born in the U.K., died after after a recent illness.

The singer-songwriter joined the group in 1970, about three years after the band was formed. McVie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Fleetwood Mac in 1998, the same year that she left the band. She rejoined the band for a 2014 tour, also according to TMZ.
