George Floyd Square in Minneapolis has special instructions for white visitors

George Floyd Square, the public intersection in Minneapolis that memorialized Floyd, who died last year in police custody, has special instructions white people, including that they be mindful about being an "invited guest."

The instruction are posted on a sign at an entrance to the site, according to Fox News, which has also posted a picture of the sign.

"Enter with reverence, humility, and openness, as an invited guest," reads the sign, which also has instructions for "white people in particular."

"Decenter yourself and come to listen, learn, mourn, and witness. Remember you are here to support, not be supported," the read the special instructions. "Be mindful of whether your volume, pace, and movements are supporting or undermining your efforts to decenter yourself."

Floyd was arrested at the intersection in May 2020 after allegedly attempting the pass a counterfeit $20 at a convenience store. He died in police custody after the-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for over nine minutes. 

Chauvin was found guilty Tuesday of murder in Floyd's death. 

"Seek to contribute to the energy of the space rather than drain it. Bring your own processing to other white folks so that you will not harm BIPOC," the sign also states. BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, People of Color.

The sign also asks white people to stop other white people from doing "problematic things" such as taking pictures, not wearing a mask or other actions they deem "disruptive."
