Washington NFL team's new coach Rivera says he has cancer
Rivera says the first-stage cancer is 'very treatable'
Ron Rivera, the first-year head coach of the Washington Football Team, said Thursday that he has early-stage lymphoma.
The 58-year-old Rivera's condition was first reported by ESPN.
Rivera plans to continue to coach. He purportedly sought medical care after a self-care check and has said his early-stage cancer is "very treatable."
“I was stunned,” Rivera told ESPN. “But I was angry because I feel like I’m in best health I’ve been in.”
