Former Florida Congressman Allen West hospitalized after motorcycle accident
West is in stable condition, and expects to be released from the hospital on Monday.
Prominent conservative figure and former Florida Congressman Allen West was hospitalized following a Saturday motorcycle accident.
The retired army lieutenant colonel suffered a concussion, fractured bones and lacerations but is in stable condition and expected to get out of the hospital on Monday, according to a press release.
"I am alive by the grace of God," West said, according to a post on his Facebook page.
West, who is currently running to become chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, plans to spend one week recuperating.
The press release says that according to local authorities, a vehicle switched lanes in front of two motorcycles. When one driver tried to brake, the rear motorcycle ran into the front motorcycle.
