Pope Leo XIV declares two new saints

Carlo Acutis, who was a 15-year-old computer whiz who died of leukemia in 2006, has become the first millennial saint in Catholic history.

Pope Leo XIV canonized two modern saints in a landmark ceremony at St. Peter’s Square on Sunday in keeping with his vision for a Catholic Church that resonates with young people.

Carlo Acutis, who was a 15-year-old computer whiz who died of leukemia in 2006, has become the first millennial saint in Catholic history. According to Reuters, he was best known for his creation of a multilingual website chronicling Eucharistic miracles, leading to the nickname "God’s Influencer." His canonization drew roughly 70,000 to 80,000 people.

Pier Giorgio Frassati, an activist from Turin who died in 1925 at 24 years of age, was also elevated to sainthood. He was known for hos dedication to the poor, Vatican News reported.
