Arizona teen missing for nearly 4 years reappears at Montana police station
The FBI joined in the search for Navarro after her disappearance and thousands of tips had poured in over the years.
An Arizona teenager who disappeared nearly four years ago reappeared and walked into a Montana police station, officials said.
Alicia Navarro, an 18-year-old originally from the Phoenix suburb of Glendale, came to police in a small town about 40 miles from the border with Canada and identified herself, the Glendale Police Department said Wednesday.
The FBI joined in the search for Navarro after her disappearance and thousands of tips had poured in over the years.
Navarro's mother, Jessica Nunez, had said she was concerned that her daughter, who was diagnosed as being high-functioning on the autism spectrum, could have been lured away by an online predator, The Associated Press reported.
Navarro was 14 when she disappeared on Sept. 15, 2019, and police are still figuring out what happened after that point.
Police said the case is "far from being closed" and they are continuing to investigate where Navarro has been for the past several years.
When Navarro disappeared from her Arizona home, she left a note stating: "I ran away. I will be back, I swear. I’m sorry."
Nunez confirmed Navarro's reappearance in a Facebook video, but said she did not have any details.
"I want to give glory to God for answering prayers and for this miracle," she said.
