MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell suspended from Twitter hours after rejoining

Lindell gained more than 37,000 followers within 4 hours after launching his new account.

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's relaunched Twitter account was taken down on Saturday after he reached tens of thousands of followers within a few hours.

The social media giant permanently banned Lindell in January 2021 for promoting claims about 2020 election fraud.

Lindell gained more than 37,000 followers within 4 hours after launching his new profile, Newsweek reported.

Twitter removed the CEO's account shortly after 5:00 p.m. ET that day. A spokesperson told Newsweek that Lindell's suspension was for violating the social media platform's rules on circumventing a ban by creating a new account.

He attempted to join Twitter after Elon Musk announced his deal to purchase the platform the platform last week.

Lindell, an ardent supporter of former President Donald Trump, still posts claims about election fraud on his website, Frankspeech.com.

While Trump said he has no interest in returning to Twitter after Musk's purchase, conservatives such as Mark Levin and Tucker Carlson have returned to the platform.
