Former President Trump hosts Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán at Mar-a-Lago
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also visited the Heritage Foundation on his U.S. trip.
Former President Donald Trump hosted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at Mar-a-Lago on Friday to discuss border security, among other issues.
According to a readout from Trump's reelection campaign, the former president and Orbán had discussions on "a wide range of issues affecting Hungary and the United States, including the paramount importance of strong and secure borders to protect the sovereignty of each nation."
Orbán didn't meet with anyone from the Biden administration while he was in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, where he was a guest at an event hosted by the Heritage Foundation, according to NBC News.
The Biden administration told CNN that they didn't extend an invitation to Orbán to meet, nor did the Hungarian prime minister request a meeting with the White House.
President Biden on Friday criticized the meeting while at a campaign event in Pennsylvania, saying, “You know who he’s meeting with today and — down in Mar-a-Lago? Orbán of Hungary, who stated flatly he doesn’t think democracy works... I see a future where we defend democracy, not diminish it.”
