Trump outraises Biden by $25 million in April
The Trump campaign had previously been pessimistic about its prospects of competing with Biden's fundraising numbers.
Former President Donald Trump and the Republican National Committee collectively raised $76 million in the month of April, substantively outperforming President Joe Biden and the Democrats.
The DNC and Biden campaign, in the same month, managed to raise a combined $51 million in April, according to the Associated Press. The gap marked a significant reversal of the March numbers, when Biden and the DNC raised more than $90 million to Trump and the Republicans' $65.6 million haul.
The Biden campaign further asserted that it had more than $192 million in cash-on-hand. The Trump campaign, meanwhile, had previously been pessimistic about its prospects of competing with Biden's fundraising numbers.
During a late March campaign call, one unnamed campaign adviser told reporters that "[w]e're never gonna be able to raise dollar-for-dollar with Biden."
