The Food and Drug Administration on Monday authorized and approved updated COVID-19 boosters, amid an increasing number of cases and hospitalizations nationwide.

The next step will be for an independent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory panel to meet Tuesday to provide recommendations on who should be eligible for the new booster. The final step will be the CDC director giving final approval, according to ABC News.
