Canadian government cracking down on peaceful protest against country's COVID-19 mandates.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act this week, giving him sweeping and unprecedented emergency powers to quell nonviolent protests led by the so-called Freedom Convoy truckers who oppose the nation's COVID-19 mandates.

Canadian authorities have also begun arresting leaders of the freedom convoy, which has blockaded part of Ottawa, in an effort to end the protest.
