You Vote: Should Biden again extend suspension of federal student loan payments?
Decision from the president is due by the end of the month.
President Biden's most recent extension of the now-years-long pause suspending monthly payments and interest for federal student loan borrowers is set to expire at the end of the month.
Biden has yet to announce whether he'll again extend the repayment moratorium, making this the closest the pause has come to a final end date since it began at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The suspension, which applies to government-held federal student loans, was initially enacted — and extended — during the Trump administration to provide relief amid the economic fallout caused by COVID-19.
The Biden administration has renewed the extension multiple times, and another decision is due by Aug. 31. It's unclear whether the president will again defer student loan payments or put students back on the hook to repay their debt.
