AZ GOP congressional candidate Hamadeh says Democrats want illegal migrants to vote for them
"What they're trying to do is get a new voter bloc on their side," Hamadeh said.
Arizona GOP congressional candidate Abe Hamadeh says that the Democrats want illegal immigrants to vote in elections so they can get more voters.
"The Democrats, they know that they've lost the American people," Hamadeh said on the Tuesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "They're losing black Americans [and] Hispanic Americans. So what they're trying to do is get a new voter bloc on their side."
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, held a press conference earlier this month where they discussed the "Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act" which would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections.
Republican elected officials have been raising concerns about the potential of illegal immigrants voting in the upcoming presidential election.
Hamadeh said that he has noticed some pushback from state legislatures on illegal immigrants being able to vote.
"I think state legislatures have been picking up on this," he said. "They've been punching back more effectively than I've ever seen, which is good."
