Republicans and President Trump's campaign did not receive a speedy ruling from the Nevada Supreme Court on an appeal seeking to stop the counting of mail-in ballots in the Las Vegas region.

The Associated Press reported that the state supreme court did not cause counting to cease but called for written filings to be completed Nov. 9 regarding an issue that might impact vote reporting in Clark County and the state of Nevada. No hearing date was immediately scheduled.

"The Trump campaign and GOP say they want campaign-enlisted count-watchers to be allowed wider range to see operations at the busy Clark County elections office in suburban Las Vegas," the AP reported. "Observers of all parties are being accommodated in Las Vegas-area ballot-counting offices. But Clark County Registrar of Voters Joe Gloria testified during a court hearing last week that privacy requirements prevent over-the-shoulder monitoring of signature validation," the outlet reported.

The case also involves an effort to stop the utilization "of an optical scanning machine to validate voter signatures," the AP noted.

But Republicans and the president's campaign scored a win when a Nevada judge ordered multiple voting locations to stay open an additional hour. The campaign and state Republicans had pointed to reports that some places did not open on time, according to the AP.

Clark County District Court Judge Joe Hardy Jr. heard arguments in a suit to extend voting to 8 p.m. at 22 places that were slated to close at 7 p.m. The judge extended the time at eight more facilities in response to the request from attorneys for Democrats. He ordered that any people waiting in line at 8 p.m. at those places should be permitted to vote.
