Democrat Fetterman: 'I celebrate the demise of Roe v. Wade'
The Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade in June.
Pennsylvania Democrat Senate nominee John Fetterman accidentally said during a rally that he celebrated the Supreme Court's decision to overrule the landmark 1973 abortion case Roe v. Wade.
"I run on Roe v. Wade. I celebrate the demise of Roe v. Wade," Fetterman said Saturday during a Philadelphia rally featuring gubernatorial candidate Josh Shapiro, former President Barack Obama and President Joe Biden.
The Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade in June, determining in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health that abortion is not a constitutionally protected right.
Fetterman, who is currently serving as lieutenant governor, said late last month that he will not release his medical records although he suffered a serious stroke in May. He used closed captioning as an aid during his only debate against Republican nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz, and after he made several mistakes during the debate, Fetterman's campaign blamed the captioning system.
