DNC Vice chairman slams Democrats for losing recent election, calling it a 'damning indictment'

He told Jake Tapper that the current Democratic Party needs to prioritize "every race in every zip code." The DNC is expected to get new leadership prior to the next election cycle.

Vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Ken Martin, slammed his party for the sweeping loss the Democrats suffered in the election earlier this month.  referencing the 2024 presidential election. 

“For the first time, the majority of Americans believe that the Republican Party best represents the interests of the working class and the poor, and the Democratic Party represents the interests of the wealthy and the elite,” Martin said during an interview with Jake Tapper. 

He added that the loss was a "damning indictment" for Democrats as they often brand themselves as the party of the working class.

As of Saturday, according to The Associated Press, the Republicans won the White House with an electoral vote count of 312 to 226 and a popular vote of 76,823,951 to 74,312,576. In the Senate, Republicans have 53 seats, while Democrats, including two independents who caucus with them, hold 47 seats. In the House, Republicans have secured the majority with 219 while the Democrats are at 213 with three seats still undecided. Republicans also have the majority of governors with 27 compared to 23 for the Democrats. 

Ken Martin is also the chairman of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer Labor Party, according to The Hill.

He told Tapper that the current Democratic Party needs to prioritize "every race in every zip code."

The DNC is expected to get new leadership prior to the next election cycle.
