Jack Black cancels Tenacious D tour after bandmate says post-shooting, 'Don’t miss Trump next time'
"I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form," Black wrote on social media
Actor and musician Jack Black canceled his band Tenacious D's remaining tour dates on Tuesday after his bandmates' comment about the attempted assassination of former President Trump.
During the rock group's show in Sydney, Australia, Kyle Gass was asked to make a wish after a cake was brought out for his 64th birthday.
"Don’t miss Trump next time," he said.
Black posted on Instagram about the situation and cancelled the rest of the tour.
"I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form," he wrote.
"After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding," he added.
Gass issued an apology in a post on Instagram.
"The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake," he said.
"I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologise to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused," Gass added.
