Louisiana GOP Gov. Landry says he won't be Trump's attorney general: report
"I told them that I would be more than willing to help them find the best attorney general for president of the United States, and I will stay right here in Louisiana," Landry said at a "Politics with a Punch" panel discussion on Monday.
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry won't be joining the second Trump administration after all.
The Republican revealed he was one of the top three candidates on a shortlist to be U.S. attorney general.
"We had this conversation a couple of different times and I told them that I would be more than willing to help them find the best attorney general for president [sic] of the United States, and I will stay right here in Louisiana," Landry said at a "Politics with a Punch" panel discussion on Monday.
WDSU reported that his statements marked the first time he acknowledged the rumors about joining the Trump administration.
