National Republican Senatorial Committee closes out 2021 by raising $28.6 million in final quarter

The National Republican Senatorial Committee closed out 2021 by bringing in nearly $28.6 million in the final quarter of the year. The group's total fundraising figure for the 12-month period was $104.8 million.

The committee begins 2022 (a midterm year) with $32.7 million cash-on-hand as it looks to flip the upper chamber in November. The group's final quarter 2021 figures represent a record-setting haul for a three-month period for both the NRSC and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

The NRSC received donations from nearly 450,000 donors in 2021, including just under 170,000 first-time donors. NRSC Chairman Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) thanked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) "and the radical Democrats" for positioning the committee so well. 

"Senate Democrats are focused on abolishing the filibuster, eliminating voter ID requirements, and reckless spending sprees instead of securing the border, fixing the supply chain, and lowering the cost of everyday goods for American families," said Scott, according to the Hill.

"Voters are rejecting the Democrats’ extreme agenda and are turning to Republicans because we are the party of solutions and will fight to ensure their success. Senate Republicans will win this November, and we are ready to fix the disaster the Democrats have created."

While polls show the GOP will in November likely retake the majority in the House, the Senate outlook is less clear.

Republicans must defend 20 seats, while Democrats defend 14 – with several high-profile, competitive races in such swing states as Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The upper chamber is currently split 50-50.
