Pelosi claims there's no 'political reason' for Harris to diverge from Biden's policies

Harris has been tight-lipped on most of her own political agenda so far, but has attempted to separate herself from the president on issues like the war in Israel, where she has been empathetic to the plight of the Palestinians, while also supporting Israel's right to defend itself.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday claimed there was no "political reason" for Vice President Kamala Harris to change her priorities from that of the Biden administration.

Pelosi, who spoke at the Democratic convention in Chicago on Wednesday, encouraged Harris to blaze her own trail if she's elected in November. But she also claimed there is no political pressure on the vice president to separate herself from Biden.

"Take it where you want to take it. What is your vision, your values, what’s in your heart of concern for people?” Pelosi advised Harris during an interview at the CNN/Politico Grill, per The Hill.

The comment comes as Harris prepares to formally accept the Democratic Party's nomination for president at the convention on Thursday night.

Harris has been tight-lipped on most of her own political agenda so far, but has attempted to separate herself from the president on issues like the war in Israel, where she has been empathetic to the plight of the Palestinians, while also supporting Israel's right to defend itself.

"She has to project her own authenticity," Pelosi said of Harris. "That's what I keep saying. Be yourself. There’s nobody like any of you in the history of the world. You’re an individual, you’re authentic, you’re sincere."
