Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., on Tuesday celebrated reports that President-elect Donald Trump plans to nominate Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., for secretary of state.

"Unsurprisingly, the other team’s pick will have political differences than my own," Fetterman posted. "That being said, my colleague
[Rubio] is a strong choice and I look forward to voting for his confirmation."

Rubio and Fetterman have been been among the most vocal supporters of Israel in the wake of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas raid that prompted the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

CNN reported that Trump would tap Rubio for the post, citing "two people familiar with his thinking." Trump has yet to confirm his plans for the post.

Rubio has sat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Intelligence Committee.
