Spirit Airlines filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the airline announced Monday.
The company said its operations would continue uninterrupted as the bankruptcy process plays out.
The bankruptcy filling took place after two failed mergers, with Frontier Airlines and JetBlue.
