Trump administration acts to make coronavirus testing more available
Efforts focus on helping labs get tests into health care community
The Trump administration on Friday announced new measures to increase coronavirus testing, amid concerns about a shortage of test kits for Americans who show signs of infection.
The Food and Drug Administration has reportedly created a 24-hour emergency hotline for laboratories struggling to get tests running, according to The Washington Post.
In addition, federal officials also reportedly announced that two companies trying to develop quick-result coronavirus tests will receive $1.3 million. Such tests could reportedly determine within an hour whether a person has been infected.
