Trump campaign advisor: Project 2025 creators a 'pain in the a--'
Democrats and left-wing pundits have attempted to tie Trump to Project 2025, though Trump has repeatedly indicated he is not involved in it and supports Agenda 47.
A senior advisor to the Trump campaign this week excoriated the creators of Project 2025, a presidential transition project from the Heritage Foundation, insisting that their agenda is not that of the former president.
Democrats and left-wing pundits have attempted to tie Trump to Project 2025, though Trump has repeatedly indicated he is not involved in it and supports Agenda 47.
Speaking at an event in Milwaukee amid the Republican National Convention, Trump advisor Chris LaCivita addressed the matter, saying that "[t]hese people do not speak for him. They do not speak for the campaign," The Hill reported.
"We’re the ones putting out policy. In a perfect world, from their perspective, they would love to drive the issue set," he went on. "They don’t get to do that."
He further called the project's proponents a "pain in the a‑‑," though he did not self-censor.
Earlier this month, Trump indicated that he did not support Project 2025, adding that "I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal."
Hans von Spakovsky, one of the project's authors, subsequently addressed the matter on the "Just the News, No Noise" television show, highlighting that it predates the Republican primary.
"I would challenge anyone who's listening to these false criticisms, go read it," he said.
