Former President Donald Trump will reportedly not mention President Joe Biden by name during his speech to the Republican National Convention on Thursday, Fox News's Bret Baier reported, citing "highly placed sources."

In the wake of an assassination attempt on Trump over the weekend, he rewrote his entire speech and indicated he sought to "bring the country together" with his new one.

Fox reported that Trump does plan to refer to the "current administration," but will not mention Biden.

The move comes amid mounting speculation that Biden may abandon his reelection effort. The Trump campaign, moreover, issued a statement on Wednesday declining to schedule a debate between vice presidential nominees, asserting that the Democrats had yet to formally choose their candidates.

"We don’t know who the Democrat nominee for Vice President is going to be, so we can’t lock in a date before their convention. To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate," Trump Campaign Senior Advisor Brian Hughes said in a statement.
