Trump leads Biden by 4 points in race for White House: poll
Some of Trump's advantage comes amid Biden's low approval rating, which stands at 42%.
Former President Donald Trump maintains a strong lead over President Joe Biden in a potential 2024 matchup, according to a recent survey.
Trump took the support of 44% of registered voters to Biden's 40% in a recent Harvard/Harris survey. Biden's support remains unchanged from the month prior, though Trump earned slightly less than the 45% support he claimed in July.
Some of Trump's advantage comes amid Biden's low approval rating, which stands at 42%.
Overall, 42% hold a favorable view of Biden compared to 54% who hold an unfavorable view of him. Trump's numbers, while still negative, were more favorable. 44% hold a favorable view of Trump, compared to 50% who hold an unfavorable view of him.
Perception of Biden's performance remains bleak when broken down by issue. He earned his highest approval marks on coronavirus (48%), job growth (46%), and administering the government (42%), but fell below the 40% threshold on the economy (39%), crime (38%), immigration (36%), and inflation (35%).
Compounding Biden's woes is inflation's status as the paramount concern among voters. 33% ranked the issue among the most vital facing the nation, along with 27% who picked the economy.
Conducted between Sept. 12-14, the survey questioned 2,103 registered voters.
Overall, Trump holds a 0.5% lead over Biden in the RealClearPolitics polling average, which includes the survey.
