At least 25 killed after Ukraine shells Russian-controlled city of Donetsk, officials say
The Donetsk region, which is partially controlled by Russia, has been a major site of fighting between Russia and Ukraine since 2014.
At least 25 people were killed and 20 others were injured after Ukrainian forces shelled the Russian-controlled city of Donetsk, Russian-appointed regional head Denis Pushilin said Sunday.
Ukrainian artillery shelled a busy location with shops and a market, Donetsk's Russian-installed mayor, Alexei Kulemzin, said, according to Reuters.
Ukraine did not immediately comment on the matter. The Donetsk region, which is partially controlled by Russia, has been a major site of fighting between Russia and Ukraine since 2014.
The Russian Foreign Ministry called the attack a "barbaric act of terrorism" carried out "with the use of weapons supplied by the West," and said, "The Russian side categorically condemns this treacherous strike against the civilian population."
