Israel launched its largest military operation in the West Bank city of Jenin in more than two decades as Israel Defense Forces used drones and deployed hundreds of troops in an anti-terror operation that resulted in the deaths of multiple suspected terrorists.

IDF spokesman Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari said Monday that the goal of the operation is to "thwart terrorist infrastructure" in Jenin, a known terrorist hotbed whose residents have carried out more than 50 shooting attacks in 2023 alone.

Israel launched its counterterror raid Sunday evening. It has since made multiple arrests and discovered an explosives laboratory with hundreds of ready-to-use explosives.

Up to 10 suspected terrorists have been killed, IDF sources told The Jerusalem Post.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad on Monday morning said five "young men were martyred," as translated.

Hamas, a U.S. State Department-designated terror group, is calling for the residents of Jenin to "thwart the enemy's plan."

The last Israeli operation of this size in Jenin was in 2002,  after a Palestinian suicide bomber killed 30 people and injured 140 others as they were celebrating the Jewish holiday of Passover.
