Putin claims U.S. is trying to 'hold back' Russia, asks Biden to 'settle' differences
The two world leaders are scheduled for a summit later this month.
Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a sharp barb to President Joe Biden on Friday, claiming the U.S. is attempting to stifle Russia's development ahead of a planned summit between the two leaders later this month.
"We have no disagreements with the United States," Putin said on Friday, speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. "We have only one disagreement: Their desire to hold back our development,"
"We should try to find ways to settle Russian-U.S. relations," he added.
The shot was presumably a reference to the sanctions the Biden administration has continued against Russia due in part to the country's alleged international destabilization efforts.
The U.S.-Russia summit is scheduled to take place in Geneva, Switzerland on June 16.
