Seventy percent of hotels in DC are booked for upcoming Trump inauguration
For Trump's first presidential inauguration, hotels were about 97% booked as first time inaugurations tend to draw larger crowds.
Hotels in Washington, D.C. are about 70% booked for the upcoming inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, data from the analytics firm STR shows.
The presidential inauguration will take place Monday.
“People are still interested in coming, and we’re seeing more and more momentum from hotels,” said nonprofit travel organization Destination D.C. President Elliott Ferguson, according to WTOP news.
“We’re waiting to see exactly what will happen in terms of short-term bookings,” he added. “As we look at what’s important to Washington, it’s all about economic impact, creating jobs and the stimulus associated with the number of people coming into the city.”
For Trump's first presidential inauguration, hotels were about 97% booked as first time inaugurations tend to draw larger crowds.
During President Barack Obama's 2009 inauguration, hotels were also 97% booked but the percentage went down to 78% for his second one in 2013.
