Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert's 18-year-old son, Tyler Boebert, was arrested and faces 22 criminal charges, including five felony charges, in connection to a string of vehicle break-ins and property thefts.

Police officers arrested Tyler Boebert on Tuesday afternoon and the investigation is ongoing, Colorado's Rifle Police Department said.

Tyler Boebert faces four felony counts related to the alleged criminal possession of identification documents with multiple victims and one felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony, per records from the sheriff's department in Garfield County, where he was arrested.

The misdemeanor charges he faces include three counts of first-degree criminal trespass of an automobile with an intent to commit a crime, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and three petty offenses of theft less than $300. He also faces other misdemeanors related to alleged identity theft and "criminal possession of a financial device," according to sheriff's department records.

A judge has yet to set his bond amount or state whether he would be eligible for release as of Wednesday morning.

Tyler Boebert is the eldest of four sons that the congresswoman had with her ex-husband Jayson Boebert. At the age of 17, Tyler Boebert made his then-36-year-old mother a grandmother when he fathered a boy with his teenage girlfriend.

This is not his first run-in with law enforcement. Tyler Boebert received a "careless driving causing bodily injury" ticket in 2022 after he flipped his father's SUV into a creek bed in Garfield County, per Westword

The incident comes as Rep. Lauren Boebert is switching districts in Colorado and running for the seat currently held by outgoing GOP Rep. Ken Buck.
