New York’s top court rejects Trump appeal of gag order
The gag order prevents the 2024 GOP presidential nominee from speaking publicly about the prosecutors or their family members.
New York’s high court rejected former President Trump’s appeal of a gag order in his hush money criminal case on Thursday.
The gag order prevents the 2024 GOP presidential nominee from speaking publicly about the prosecutors or their family members.
The gag order does not cover Judge Juan Merchan or Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat.
“No substantial constitutional question is directly involved,” the court ruled, dismissing the appeal.
Back in May, a jury found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a payment that Michael Cohen, his former lawyer, had made to porn star Stormy Daniels in the run up to the 2016 presidential election.
Trump's sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 26.
