Supreme Court throws out claims Biden admin. pressured social media companies to remove content

The Supreme Court on Wednesday tossed out claims that the Biden administration unlawfully pressured social media companies to remove certain content.

The high court overturned an injunction that would have placed limits on contact between government officials and social media companies on a series of issues. 

The Republican attorneys general of Louisiana and Missouri and five social media users had filed a lawsuit alleging that U.S. government officials put pressure on social media platforms to censor certain content. 

The court ruled 6-3 that the plaintiffs lacked the standing to sue with conservative justices Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch dissenting.
