The order directs HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the secretary of Education to establish a plan that ends the vaccine mandates, or end federal funding for places that do not comply.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday that will pull funding from public schools that have a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for its students and staff.

Trump teased the order on the campaign trail last year, vowing not to "give one penny to any school that has a vaccine mandate or a mask mandate."

The order directs Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and the Secretary of Education to establish a plan that ends the vaccine mandates, or end federal funding for places that do not comply, per The Hill.

Trump's nominee for Secretary of Education Linda McMahon has not yet been confirmed by the Senate.

The order comes after Trump signed an executive order last month that reinstates service members with back-pay who were discharged when they refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
