Pentagon says a junior Navy sailor tried to access Biden's health log three times in February

The Pentagon confirmed on Tuesday that a junior enlisted Naval sailor unsuccessfully tried to access President Joe Biden's medical records through a military database in February.

Biden underwent his annual physical on Feb. 28, where he was deemed "fit for duty" by his medical team at Walter Reed. But questions about the validity of the medical report have surfaced recently after he gave a disastrous debate performance last month.

The name of the sailor who tried to use the Genesis Medical Health System three times in February has not been released, but he has been administratively disciplined, according to CBS News. But the Pentagon said no information was leaked, because the sailor did not pull up the correct person.

“The bottom line is that they confirmed that at no time was the president’s personal information compromised, and that the record that the sailor inappropriately accessed was not the electronic health record of the president of the United States,” Pentagon spokesman Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters, per The Hill.

The sailor used the database to look for Biden's information three times on Feb. 23, and an investigation into the incident was launched on Feb. 26, which has since concluded. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was notified of the attempted breach in February, and the White House was also alerted.

"The MHS Genesis system is a secure health system and at no time was the President's personal information compromised," Navy Commander Tim Hawkins, said in a statement to CBS News.

Hawkins added that the president's information cannot be accessed in that system because the record is restricted. 

The sailor, who was stationed in Virginia, said he looked into the president "out of curiosity."
