President Joe Biden on Wednesday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to allow it to continue cutting monthly student loan payments for millions of borrowers through a repayment plan.

The plan is called SAVE (Saving on a Valuable Education) and is facing multiple legal battles, according to CNN

Roughly three million borrowers are enrolled in the repayment program.

Earlier this month, three red states asked the higher court to block an attempt from the Biden administration to decrease monthly payments for those enrolled.

A court in Denver allowed the SAVE program to continue, resulting in Alaska, South Carolina, and Texas filing an emergency appeal, CNN reports.

“Due to the administration’s intransigence, the court must unfortunately step in again,” the states said in the filing.
